Standing Long Jump training

Prepare for Standing Long Jump as one part of the Occupational Physical Assessment Test (OPAT).

Official Army guidance

Use the current event protocol and local test-control instructions for administration. The reference below describes the event; it is not a substitute for the official directive.

What it tests

Lower-body explosive power and the ability to project the body horizontally.

Test setup

Start behind the takeoff line on the marked landing surface with feet set for the jump.

How it is performed

Start behind the line, swing the arms, jump forward, and land under control.

What counts

Complete two practice jumps followed by three record jumps. All three record jumps are recorded; the longest valid jump is the score, measured to the nearest centimeter.

Result recorded

Record the best valid distance in centimeters.

Attempts / termination

If the Soldier steps backward before regaining control, measure to the back of the rearmost foot. A fall forward or backward requires the jump to be repeated.
