Body Composition / Preparation

Prepare for a body-composition assessment

Track WHtR with the correct measurement location, use sustainable training and nutrition habits, and use Army support resources when you need help.

Preparation and support

Preparation priorities

Track WHtR consistently

Measure at the same navel location and under similar conditions each time. Apply the same Army-style recording increments so changes over time are easier to compare.

Keep training and nutrition sustainable

Build around regular physical activity, resistance training, adequate sleep, hydration, and nutrition habits you can sustain between assessments.

After a confirmed out-of-standard result

If the confirmed WHtR remains 0.550 or greater, current Army policy calls for ABCP enrollment, flagging, and support.

Personal tracking

Track Progress With the Same Measurement Method

Use the same navel location, tape placement, and recording increments each time you track WHtR. Consistent measurement makes changes easier to compare.
