Movement Drill training

Prepare for Movement Drill as one part of the continuous Combat Field Test (CFT) sequence.

Official Army guidance

Use the current event protocol and local test-control instructions for administration. The reference below describes the event; it is not a substitute for the official directive.

What it tests

Ground movement, short-burst acceleration, and tactical transitions.

Test setup

The 50-meter drill combines a 25-meter high crawl and a 25-meter rush.

How it is performed

Complete the high crawl, then complete the prescribed 3–5 second rushes across the remaining distance, then move to the next event after grader clearance.

What counts

Completion of the 50-meter movement drill in the official sequence.

Result recorded

Move to the next event after grader clearance.

Attempts / termination

An inability to complete an event terminates the CFT and records a failure.

Official guidance is controlling; ArmyFitHub training suggestions are editorial preparation guidance.

ArmyFitHub Training Guidance

Use these practice ideas to build repeatable movement quality. They do not change the Army test standard.

Coaching focus

Separate the crawl and rush mechanics, then connect them without losing direction or urgency.

Useful practice

  • High crawl technique
  • Short rush-and-stop repeats
  • Ground-to-stand transitions

Progression

Practice clean movement at short distances before combining the full 50-meter sequence.

Test-day transition

Stay low through the crawl, control the stand-up, and make each rush deliberate rather than frantic.

Practice setup

  • Test-appropriate running shoes
  • Event equipment and test surface controlled by the unit
