CFT / Training / Run 2

Final 1-Mile Run training

Prepare for Final 1-Mile Run as one part of the continuous Combat Field Test (CFT) sequence.

Official Army guidance

Use the current event protocol and local test-control instructions for administration. The reference below describes the event; it is not a substitute for the official directive.

What it tests

Aerobic endurance and pace control after the loaded and ground-movement stations.

Test setup

Begin the second one-mile run after the movement drill is complete.

How it is performed

Run one mile to finish the continuous seven-event sequence.

What counts

Completion of the final one-mile distance.

Result recorded

The cumulative CFT time stops after the final 1-mile run is completed.

Attempts / termination

The CFT result requires completion of every event; there is no independent point score.

Official guidance is controlling; ArmyFitHub training suggestions are editorial preparation guidance.

ArmyFitHub Training Guidance

Use these practice ideas to build repeatable movement quality. They do not change the Army test standard.

Coaching focus

The closing mile rewards pacing discipline and durable aerobic capacity after the loaded work.

Useful practice

  • Easy runs after strength days
  • Steady-state intervals
  • Short finish surges

Progression

Build the ability to hold form late in a session before asking for faster closing pace.

Test-day transition

Settle into a sustainable rhythm early and use the final stretch only when your form remains controlled.

Practice setup

  • Test-appropriate running shoes
  • Event equipment and test surface controlled by the unit
